Six systems have been made easier to operate — three this week, the rest earlier this year and reaching the tape in the last fortnight. In every case a real friction fell. In every case a different risk remained, moved, or changed owner.

Apollo will price its credit business daily by 1 October, so retirement plans can hold private credit — the exit risk moves to plan members (the four questions →). Japan bought yen with the U.S. Treasury on 31 July — the first joint operation in fifteen years — and flagged the Fed's FIMA facility, which genuinely reduces forced-sale risk while leaving the rate gap untouched: Japan-attributed Treasury holdings fell $66.8bn in a month (TIC Table 5 — holdings, not measured sales). Hong Kong listed the only offshore CGB future into a market foreign investors have trimmed ~30% since 2024. Big Tech has contracted $1.09 trillion of leases that have not started. And Kenya has legislated pension capital into infrastructure — with the High Court already ordering audited accounts by 24 August.

And Hormuz. Stocks closed at records on reopening optimism; eight vessels crossed Tuesday against a pre-war 130–140. The decisive fact is first-party: a week ago OFAC sanctioned the two companies that collect Iran's mandatory transit "insurance" and called the scheme extortion. A reopening with fees routes shipping through a designated entity; one without fees still leaves U.S. persons unable to rely on Iranian clearance. Either way passage becomes permissioned — the risk left the oil price and moved into the compliance layer (full analysis →).
