Ownership & Funding
Version 1.0 — 28 May 2026.
A reader is entitled to know who pays for what they are reading. This page sets out the ownership of Universal Asset Owners, our sources of revenue, the parties that fund us, and the rules that protect editorial work from the parties that pay us.
Ownership
Universal Asset Owners is independently owned. There are no outside equity investors. There are no board observer rights held by any third party.
We hold no equity investment, debt financing, or governance role from any of the parties we cover. Specifically:
- No sovereign wealth fund, public pension fund, corporate pension plan, endowment, foundation, or insurance investment arm.
- No asset manager, broker-dealer, investment bank, or commercial bank.
- No exchange, index provider, or market data vendor.
- No consulting, accounting, or law firm.
- No government, central bank, or multilateral institution.
If any of those statements changes, this page is updated within seven days.
How we make money
Universal Asset Owners operates a media, research, and convening business. Revenue comes from four lines:
- Sponsorship of daily and weekly editorial properties, the podcast, and the video stream — subject to the labelling rules in our Editorial Standards.
- Sponsorship and ticket revenue from events, roundtables, dinners, and the annual summit.
- Subscription to premium research products.
- Partnerships with data providers and research counterparts on co-produced work, labelled as such.
We do not take payment to cover, omit, soften, or sharpen coverage of any party. A request to do so ends the relationship and is disclosed on the affected piece.
Sponsor disclosure
Any party contributing US$5,000 or more to Universal Asset Owners in any rolling twelve-month window is disclosed by name on this page, with the nature of the relationship (sponsor, event partner, research partner, ticket holder above a corporate threshold). This is a lower bar than is legally required of us. We disclose it because the audience deserves to see it.
Sponsored posts, partner research pieces, and sponsored event sessions also carry their own disclosure at the top of the piece or session. The list below is the cross-platform register; the post-level disclosures are the in-line register.
Register, 28 May 2026. No qualifying sponsors or partners.
Conflicts arising from sponsorship
Where a sponsor's interests intersect with a story we are working on, the rule is straightforward: the story runs on its merits or it does not run; the sponsor is told nothing about it before publication; and the relationship is disclosed on the piece. A sponsor that asks for influence on coverage forfeits the relationship, and the request is published.
Donations and grants
Universal Asset Owners is a commercial entity, not a non-profit. We do not solicit donations. We will consider research grants from foundations and academic counterparts that publish their own funders and accept full editorial independence on the work; any such grant is disclosed on this page and on the work it funds.
Events
UAO roundtables, dinners, executive forums, and the annual summit are commercial events. The Briefings & Roundtables page sets out the format. Each event page discloses sponsors. Where coverage of an event runs on the platform, the sponsor disclosure runs with it. Speakers are not paid for editorial appearances; reimbursed travel above an ordinary threshold is disclosed on the piece.
Audits
Sponsorship and partnership records are kept and will be made available to a reasonable third-party audit on request — for instance, by a current or prospective institutional sponsor or research partner who wants to verify independence.
